Chief for Mac · Private beta

Download Chief for Mac.

Requires an Apple-silicon Mac (M1 or later) on macOS 15 or later.

On an Intel Mac this app cannot run. Install the chief command-line tool instead — curl -fsSL https://runchief.ai/install.sh | sh — to sign in, search and query memory from any agent. Understanding, the step that turns what arrives into claims, runs only on an Apple-silicon Mac with this app or on Linux with the Chief desktop runtime; until one of those is signed in, everything is stored and searchable and nothing is understood.

Version 0.1.6 is signed with Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

  1. Open the downloaded disk image.
  2. Drag Chief into Applications.
  3. Launch Chief from Applications and sign in with your invited account.
  4. Open Settings → General → Local intelligence, choose your installed, signed-in Claude Code or Codex account, and turn it on. Installing alone does not enable it; this is the step that makes Chief think on this machine.

On Linux? Install the desktop runtime with one command from the installation guide, then run chief-desktop intelligence setup — the same step as the Mac app's Local intelligence setting.
